Course Details

Social media like Facebook and Twitter are not only a great ways for people to stay in touch with one another, they’re also a great marketing tools when implemented well. Businesses throughout the world want to use social media to:

  • Increase their brand image and awareness
  • Develop stronger customer relationships
  • Improve ROI

This workshop is designed to familiarize you with social media itself, the do's and don'ts of social media, and best practices in social media. Through discussion, application exercises, and case studies, participants will understand how to best employ social media like Facebook and Twitter to better position their businesses in their markets.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Understand how social media sites work
  2. Avoid mistakes that can hurt your business
  3. Decide how social media can help you
  4. Begin a social media plan

Business Success Skills Certificate Program

This class is eligible for the Business Success Skills Certificate Program. Participants who complete six classes will receive a framed gold seal Business Success Skills Certificate jointly from both The University of Texas at Austin Professional Development Center and City of Austin Small Business Development Program.

Rationale

Understanding social media is necessary for any small business owner to connect their business with customers. This course will enable students to apply learned concepts in applying social media tools for their own business.
