Writing Your Life Stories and Family History
Would you like to record life stories & family memories for your family and future generations? This course leads you through writing 6 of your stories in a short format, and sharing them with others in the class each week. The course uses a method called Guided Autobiography, which is way of helping people organize and record life stories. Each story is based on a life theme such as Family, Transitions, Life Work, etc.
Each session introduces the theme and includes exercises that help trigger memories, as well as discover depth and meaning in experiences. During the week, participants record their stories and vignettes in 2 pages and then read them to a small group (about 3-4).
Past participants have said this course got them started with writing their stories down and kept them motivated. They also note that the small group sessions are fun and enriching.
If you’ve wanted to record, share, and preserve your stories for your family and still haven’t started - this is the course to get you going!
Attendance at the first class is very important for this course.
