Photography: Nature

Do you love to be outdoors and commune with our natural environment? Would you enjoy the ability to make striking photographs of these memories for the future?

This course will cover the skills and techniques required to enable the participant to capture photographic images of natural subjects in the world around us. It will illustrate the procedures and equipment to make excellent images of living plants and flowers, animals, and landscapes. Each week students will complete assignments based on skills learned by making photographs for review during the following class period. A half-day field trip to a nature environment will be included on a Saturday.

The intermediate-level class is designed around the digital SLR camera. Students must be comfortable with its use and be capable of making good exposures. Special equipment need not be purchased prior to the course; the course will provide insight to the equipment appropriate for each participant’s needs.

Brian Loflin is a highly regarded commercial, advertising and biological photographer and has published four books and is currently in production of additional volumes. He is a skilled and well-liked teacher whose passion is in passing his knowledge and vision along to others, creating growth in his students photography.
