In 1909, The University of Texas at Austin created an innovative service to extend its rich educational resources to all Texans. Continuing and Innovative Education was born. For 100 years, CIE has worked to meet the growing needs of traditional and non-traditional students both in Texas and beyond.
Continuing and Innovative Education (CIE) at The University of Texas at Austin is proud to announce the introduction of a new personal enrichment program to begin in the fall of 2010. This new program, although not a continuation of the original Informal Classes offered by the Texas Union, is instead a new program in the spirit of Informal Classes based on community interest in noncredit courses. The new home for CIE’s informal classes will be within the Life Enrichment program of the Thompson Conference Center (TCC).
CIE is creating a sustainable business model to support a new Informal Classes program at the university. This program makes a wonderful companion to our ongoing life enrichment programs: the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Odyssey, and Road Scholar.
