One of the most promising fields in science and technology today is the study and development of nanotechnology. Despite the fact that nanoscience and nanoengineering are still in their infancy, it has been demonstrated that nanoscale materials exhibit unique behaviors and properties. In this context, nanomaterials and nanotecnology are expected to have a tremendous impact on the various aspects of human life, such as health, environment, energy, transportation, agriculture, information technology, national security and space exploration. In this talk, the general aspects of nanotechnology will be discussed and the implications for society will be addressed.
